More great news. I wonder where the limit on this growth will be?
As great as Macs are, the price will still be a determining factor at the end of the day. I don't see it getting as popular as PCs are. Maybe 20%?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to go to the search part of iTunes? I have to click it with my mouse, and I try to minimize mouse usage... if I could find a key combo for it, that'd be great...

I'm not holding my breath on the Top secret features...it could have been a joke.
ALTHOUGH, Tiger included some features that were so top secret--like the exclusive dotMac widgets--that Apple couldn't even include them in the final release, so you never know! ;)
I think ZFS may be one of the top secret features. Now, maybe that's because I would love to have ZFS running on my Power Mac. However I did see mention of the kernel now implementing DTrace, an open source project that also comes from Solaris... if they took one, maybe they took ZFS as well..
Wishful thinking?

First in to Best Buy this morning - manager says the promotion is just a 'reservations' promotion - if you buy a $100 gift certificate they'll put you on the wait list and will call you in next 3-4 weeks when they expect to get stock. Don't bother. Is this not illegal - or just shady practice?

Very dark and dingy interface, reminds me of some audio-editing ap. What happened to the nice white play buttons, and the bright blue scroll bars and music store.
iTunes is now much more accomplished as a sopisticated media ap, but the style really has suffured. Doesn't feel like an Apple product!

But that approval process keeps those 30+ million iPhones and iPod Touches humming along without data being corrupted or stolen (Rickrolling jailbroken iPhone worm notwithstanding. Again, once you go outside of this "overbearing" control-freak company, you're vulnerable).
1. iPhone OS applications are strictly sandboxed (jailed phones only).
2. Apple's reviewers have and will continue to miss easter eggs (IE: version 1.0 of C64's ability to execute BASIC, within a sandboxed environment of course)
3. Apple demands that developers reveal easter egg functionality when submitting apps. Otherwise, it is unlikely that a reviewer will notice secret functionality during the 5 minutes they have with the app.

There are many possibilities for the graphics of the Macbook. The GMA950 is at about the end of the road. Maybe we'll see Intel's X3000. If not, one of Nvidia's or ATi's integrated solutions would be nice.
I doubt we will see a change in graphics. I mean, I still see Dell and the other computer makers offering the 950 for their "consumer" laptops. Apple is usually a few weeks behind Dell et. al. in offering the newer components, so I would be very pleasantly surprised if Apple actually changed the graphics.

Haven't joined in the POTD for a while - mostly because I'm still playing with my new strobes. But here's a little camera porn for today, courtesy of those same new strobes - and one of the many relics in my camera closet.

Thats a big expense and a very big risk. I dont think so.
Apple has $15 Billion in Cash...and as a shareholder, (i'm not alone here) am a little upset that they're not doing anything with it. A billion or two won't kill them.
Remember that the iphone is the most profitable product line that apple has. I think that they will continue this trend into the other products, however in order to do so, you must build the infrastructure. Apple will either buy out a current player in the wireless sector, or will slowly deploy their own network, slowly integrating existing products into it... convergence.

I agree but it's still not a "retail" version of OS X...
And neither is the version of Windows you get with a PC. Restore only. But again, this is not the point.

I am 73 years old, I live in Rogers, AR as does my daughter. My daughter is a Walmart employee! She does not have a mustache! The preceding remark is, in my opinion, unnecessary, cruel and sexist.
There is a great deal about Wal Mart to depise but none of them justify such a gatuitous attack on women, many of whom are single parents, that work hard there to support their families.:(
I'm sure it was all fun and games. It's hard for us Arkansans though. Desipte what reasons people hate Wal-Mart for, they are always a big deal up in our community (local NWA resident here). What I do see though is a lot of under class citizens in our neck of the woods who are able to pay for certain things that they probably couldn't afford elsewhere.

Excellent point Skunk and I agree completely. Believers should make it priority to read and understand all of God's word, but unfortunately, like anything in life, sometimes we avoid what we find difficult , what we don't understand, or what we don't enjoy.
The sad fact is that many people who profess to be followers of Jesus don't spend the amount of time in the Bible that they should. It's not just an old vs. new testament thing it's a reading and studying the Bible at all thing. I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know as we have discussed it before in other threads. Christians who don't understand of know their faith well sometimes do more harm than good by spreading misinformation. If they would actually deepen their relationship with God through consistent time in his word then they would be a better representation of the truth the scriptures lay out.
However, I should point out that faith is a growing process. The goal is that people will mature in their faith over time as they grow in knowledge of and relationship with the Lord. I am not discouraged by new believers who are just starting out on in their walk with Christ. It's the long time believers who have neglected God's word or chosen to adhere to tradition over revealed truth that frustrate me.But would they still be believers if they really read the Old Testament? The evidence within it for polytheism is rife. Worshipping Yahweh/Jehovah/El is like worshipping Zeus or Jupiter. And Satan is Baal (Beelzebub). Not many Zeus-worshippers around these days, though, are there?

Lets hope they remaster them - the stereo effects on the original versions can be really painful on a pair of headphones.
+1
The quality of The Beatles CD releases are, for the most part, poor. Of course, they date from 1987, and digital tech has improved greatly since then.
The music itself could also do with a remix. Mixing drums entirely in one stereo channel is difficult to take in headphones!

It's both sad and sickening to see how many Apple fanboys are elitists who only want Apple products to be sold at upscale stores. Such fanboys want Apple products to be regarded as high-end fashion accessories and status symbols. What a shame that Apple has such a feminized culture associated with it. I miss the days when Apple products were regarded as tools for accomplishing tasks.
I don't know that I would call it feminized, but it certainly seems bratty and petulant. Sell them everywhere! Someone mentioned Starbucks and 7-11... and while they were being douchenozzles about it, I say those sound like great ideas. I don't care if they sell them at hot dog carts in the park... the more places that sell them and the more people that see them the better. When you limit an item to boutique stores, the items get a stigma of being posh and elitist... that is NOT how you move tons of product.

I am seriously thinking of getting out of Windowsworld and the new 24" iMac looks great!:D
From the listed specs this will really rock.
Anybody have advice on whether I should wait for Leopard to come out or not?
Since Core 2 Duo is 64-bit, there's really no reason to wait if you need/really want a new computer right now.

Are you seriously comparing Bach to the Beatles?
There are hundreds of doctoral dissertations about Bach and his music. There are people studying his typography....etc. For example, there is a study about the color of the ink he used at the beginning of his Leipzig period. They found a relationship of patterns of writing and the color of the ink according to his age. That's is one of the thousands ways they have tried to find out the date of a single piece. There a lot people who devote their lives to perform or/and study his music.
Have they done that for the Beatles?
I am going to take you as my example form now on. I am going to tell my friends there is someone who compares Bach to the Beatles.
You don't know how people will look at The Beatles in the next 100, 200, 300 years. In fact, from what I remember from a music class that I was in, Handel was looked upon as the superior composer during the Baroque period. It wasn't until sometime after his death, that Bach was reexamined. I would argue that the Beatles have had, relatively speaking, as much of an impact as Bach. The Beatles still influence today's music.
I don't understand how people can dismiss The Beatles so easily. Were they the most talented musicians? No. But as a group, they constructed a body of work that is, in my opinion, unparalleled.
So, there- I'm another person that just compared The Beatles to Bach;)
And The Beatles weren't pop. They were what was formally known as Rock and Roll:D
